Abstract:
The present study aimed to identify the relative importance or weight of dark leadership personality dimensions in the emergence of job depression, low self-esteem, and role conflict. The statistical population included all administrative staff of the Ministry of Education in Tehran, totaling 1,300 employees. Based on Cochran's formula, a sample of 297 participants was selected using a random sampling method. To measure the constructs, a combination of researcher-made and standardized questionnaires was employed. The validity of the instruments was enhanced through expert consultation with university faculty members, and reliability was confirmed via Cronbach’s alpha coefficient. Descriptive statistics were used to process raw data, and demographic characteristics were presented through classification, frequency tables, and charts. The findings indicated that the components of dark leadership personality were positively and significantly intercorrelated. Furthermore, all dimensions showed a direct and significant relationship with job depression, low self-esteem, and role conflict. Results of the relative importance model revealed that dark leadership traits explained 57% of the variance in job depression, 65% in low self-esteem, and 49% in role conflict. Importantly, the effects of individual personality traits were not uniform. Specifically, the trait of psychopathy had the highest relative weight in predicting job depression, pessimism had the strongest influence on low self-esteem, and Machiavellianism emerged as the dominant predictor of role conflict. Based on these findings, practical recommendations were proposed.
