Identifying and Analyzing the Components of Work-Life Balance (Case Study: Tehran Municipality)

Abstract

The balance between work and life is an important issue for most people, organizations and human societies. In fact, family and work can have a mutual effect and a complementary role for each other. The aim of this research is to identify the components of work-life balance in Tehran municipality, which was done in three stages. In the first stage, which aims to design the model, a semi-structured interview was conducted with thirteen managers and experts in the field of human resources who were selected by a targeted method to achieve theoretical persuasion. In the second stage, based on the initial model, using the Delphi method, 7 managers and experts in the field of human resources who had more than ten years of service were selected and surveyed by snowball method. Finally, after three stages of going back and forth, the revised model with 4 components and 17 indicators was compiled, and in the last stage, a questionnaire was designed based on the revised model. The statistical population was all the experts of the Tehran municipality headquarters, and the number of the statistical sample was determined to be 170 people, and the questionnaire was randomly distributed among them. Finally, 4 components of family factors, individual factors, organizational factors and social factors were identified as work-life balance components.
